Terms of service
The rules for using the site, stated in plain language. These terms explain what we provide, how accounts and payments work, and what you and we are responsible for.
Who you are dealing with
We are a software company based in the United Arab Emirates, and the law of the UAE applies. In these terms, “we” means us, the company behind Blurwrite, and “you” means the person using the service.
By using the site, you agree to these terms. They cover your use of the tools, your account, any paid plan or word pack, and access through the API.
You can contact us at support@blurwrite.com about these terms or your use of the service. A person answers within 24 hours.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 to use the service. If you are below the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
The minimum age and the consent requirement apply to using the service, not just to buying a plan. Free use without an account does not remove these requirements.
If you are old enough to use the service but are not yet an adult under the law where you live, you still need that consent.
The service
We provide tools for checking, rewriting and counting text. The service includes the tools listed below.
- AI detector.
- AI humanizer and paraphrasing tool.
- Grammar checker and summarizer.
- Word counter and character counter.
- Plagiarism checker, coming soon on the paid plans.
- API access and an MCP server on Pro.
What the detector is
A detector reading is an estimate of how a text reads to our model. We show it as a range with a confidence rating. Our measured error rates are published on the accuracy page.
A reading is not proof of how a text was written. The range and confidence rating describe the model's assessment, not an established fact about the person who wrote the text.
You must not use a detector reading as the only basis for a decision about a person. This includes decisions about grades, hiring, payment or discipline.
We make no promise about how any other detector or institution will assess a text. Our reading does not establish what result another service will give or what decision a school, employer or publisher will make.
Your text
Your text stays yours, and so does what the tools make from it. Using a tool does not transfer ownership of your text or its output to us.
You let us process your text only to run the tool you asked for. We do not train models on it, and we do not sell or share it.
Files you upload are turned into plain text in memory and discarded with the request. The uploaded file itself is not kept.
The privacy policy explains how text and account data are handled. It also describes the history of tool runs. Read that policy for the details of history rather than treating these terms as a separate description of it.
You remain responsible for having the right to submit the text and for how you use the result.
Accounts
You can sign in with your email address and password, or with Google. Each account is for one person. Do not share, sell or publish access to your account.
Keep your password and your email account safe. Anyone who can use them can sign in, so protecting your email account is part of protecting your Blurwrite account.
To receive a copy of your data or to have your account deleted, write to support@blurwrite.com from the email address on the account. Deleting the account first ends any plan, removes your data and signs you out everywhere.
Account deletion does not trigger a refund. If you want to request a refund, the refund policy explains the applicable window and how to ask. Deleting your account and requesting a refund are separate actions.
Free use
Free use needs no card. You get a daily free run on each tool, with a word cap. The caps differ for visitors without an account and people using free accounts.
The grammar checker, word counter and character counter have no cap. Daily limits reset at midnight UTC.
To enforce free limits, we keep a keyed hash of the IP address and the browser's cookie id for each tool and UTC day. Today's and yesterday's counts are kept. Per-minute limits work the same way.
Clearing the visitor cookie does not reset your free limits because the IP hash also counts. Do not open many free accounts or rotate identities to get around the limits.
Plans and billing
Our paid plans are Basic, Plus and Pro. You can choose monthly, semester or yearly billing. A semester billing period lasts four months.
Prices appear on the pricing page as list prices in US dollars. Plans are paid by card through our payment processor. Your card details go to the payment processor and never reach our servers.
A plan renews automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price for that plan, until you cancel. A price change applies to you only if you accept it. Automatic renewal does not override that requirement.
A monthly plan never turns into a yearly plan on its own. Renewal continues the billing interval you chose; it is not an automatic move to a different interval.
Monthly word allowances reset each billing month. Each tool has its own allowance.
You can buy word packs on any account, including Free. Each pack is bought for one tool, the AI detector, humanizer, paraphraser or summarizer, and its words are used for that tool alone, after the plan's monthly words for it. Each pack lasts 12 months from purchase.
AI detection on paid plans comes with a monthly word allowance that depends on the plan, and word packs add to it. We can limit unusual volumes to keep the service available for everyone.
If you open a second plan by mistake, for example in a second tab, it is a duplicate charge, not a purchase. We cancel that duplicate plan and return its charge automatically.
Plan changes
An upgrade takes effect at once. We charge your card for the difference for the rest of the period.
A downgrade takes effect at the end of the paid period. Nothing is charged or refunded at the change. Until the paid period ends, the downgrade has not yet taken effect.
Changing a plan can also affect which refund window applies. An upgrade that changes the billing interval counts as the first payment of the new interval. An upgrade within the same interval does not. The refund policy explains this distinction.
Cancellation
You can cancel any time on the billing page, with no conditions. Cancelling stops the next charge, and your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
Before that end date, you can resume the plan. If you do, it renews as before.
Cancelling is not a request for a refund and does not return a payment automatically. It stops the next renewal rather than ending the paid access you still have. Refund requests are handled under the refund policy.
Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, your plan stays active while the payment is tried again. You receive an email when a card payment fails.
If the payment keeps failing, the plan ends. You can then choose a plan again.
A failed renewal payment does not end the plan immediately while retries are taking place. The plan ends if those payment attempts continue to fail.
Refunds
Refunds are made on request, with no argument about why. A plan payment can be refunded within 14 days of the first payment of each billing interval. Renewal payments are not refunded.
An upgrade that changes the billing interval starts a new 14-day refund window for the difference charged. An upgrade within the same interval is not a first payment.
Each word pack has its own 14-day window from purchase. Words already used are deducted pro rata.
Nothing is refunded automatically when you cancel, downgrade or a tool is unavailable. Duplicate charges are the exception described above. See the refund policy for how to ask, how refunds affect your plan or words, and payment details.
Payment disputes
If you dispute a payment with your bank through a chargeback, the plan is put on hold and does not renew.
The plan comes back if the dispute is settled in its favour. While the dispute has put the plan on hold, automatic renewal is also on hold.
A bank dispute is separate from a refund request made to us. Our refund policy explains how to request a refund directly.
The API
API access is available only on Pro. API calls spend the same word pools as the site. They do not have a separate word allowance.
Each account has a limited number of active keys, per-minute request limits, concurrency limits and a monthly abuse ceiling. These limits are described on the API page. A call over a limit is refused with an error.
An API key is for your own use. Keep it secret and do not share, sell or publish it. Every call made with your key counts against your plan.
Keys are stored only as salted hashes. The acceptable use rules apply to API use as well as use through the site, including the rule against using outputs or the API to train or build a competing model or service.
Acceptable use
Follow the acceptable use policy. In summary, do not use the service to break the law, harm someone, submit content or personal data you have no right to process, or submit content that sexualises minors or incites violence.
Do not attack, overload, scrape or get around the service's limits. Do not share account access or API keys, or use outputs or the API to train or build a competing model or service.
You are responsible for how you use outputs, including your school, employer or publisher's rules on AI help and disclosure. A detector reading must not be the only basis for a decision about a person.
Our content
The site, tools and software stay ours. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use them under these terms.
That right is a right to use the service, not a transfer of ownership of the site, tools or software. You cannot transfer your right of use to another person.
This does not change the rule for your own material: your text and what the tools make from it stay yours.
Availability
We work to keep the service running, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors. This applies to access through the site and the API.
Tools can be changed, limited or paused. The presence of a tool in the service does not mean it will always remain available without changes.
A tool being unavailable does not trigger an automatic refund. Any request for a refund is handled under the refund policy.
Suspension and ending
You can stop using the service at any time. To have your account deleted, write to support@blurwrite.com from the email address on the account.
Deleting ends any plan first, removes your data and signs you out everywhere. It does not trigger a refund.
We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or the acceptable use rules, and we will tell you why. Serious or repeated breaches can end the account.
Suspension and account ending are separate from cancelling renewal. If you only want to stop the next plan charge, use the cancellation option on the billing page.
Liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses.
As far as the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it.
Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you. The exclusions and limit above apply only to the extent that law permits them.
Changes
When these terms change, we publish the new version here, with its date at the top of the page.
A change to what you pay applies only if you accept it. Neither a terms update nor automatic plan renewal removes that requirement.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the UAE. Disputes about them are decided by the courts of the UAE.
The liability section preserves rights that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you. Nothing in these terms removes those rights.
Translations
The English version of these terms prevails over any translation.
If a translated version differs from the English version, the English version is the one that applies. You can ask us about the wording at support@blurwrite.com.
Electronic communications
We send emails about your account and plan. These include a welcome when you create an account, receipts when a plan starts or is paid, notices of failed card payments, and confirmation when you cancel.
We also send a confirmation link when you create an account and a password reset link when you request a new password.
These are account and plan communications. We send no newsletters and no marketing.
Contact
Send questions about these terms to support@blurwrite.com. You can use the same address for questions about your account, plan or use of the service.
A person answers within 24 hours. To ask for a refund, write from the email you paid with and follow the refund policy.
